Plein air painting - Crabtree Nature Center

Crabtree Nature Center ~ 8" x 10" ~ Acrylic on canvas panel
I participated in a plein air painting session at the Crabtree Nature Center sponsored by the center, BCAC (Barrington Cultural Arts Center) and Dick Blick on September 19th, 2010.
Even though it rained earlier in the day, it then stopped and I had a great time painting with a group of wonderful artists. I had just finished painting the goose and a nice lady bought my painting! When it dawned on me that I had not taken a photo of my painting, I ran behind her and was able to take the photo. So, here it is.

  1. Lovely composition, Aruna. Was this your first plein air session? I haven't dared to venture out yet but have the easel and supplies to do so someday.

  2. Thanks Carol. I have painted on location may be around 10 times. It seems daunting in the beginning lugging around the supplies etc. You will soon realize what works for you and then you are craving to go out and just paint. It helps to not have too high expectations and just play with the hightened senses. You will soon grow to like the experience immensely. Atleast I do. By the way, be sure to check my post on the check list for plein air in June 2009 http://arunanitin.blogspot.com/2009/06/plein-air.html

  3. Very good composition Aruna. I love that you surrounded this pond with flowers almost across the board. This brings the viewer eye to the middle where the main subject is sitting :)
    Great job!
    Thank you for sharing!

  4. Thanks Irina. The little orange flowers are "forget me not"s. Appreciate your comments.
